In a well-coordinated effort, the Indian Navy, with the help of the Sri Lankan Navy, stopped two boats carrying a large amount of illegal drugs in the Arabian Sea. The operation led to the seizure of 500 kg of crystal meth, a dangerous drug.
The mission began after the Sri Lankan Navy shared information about possible drug smuggling involving Sri Lankan fishing boats. Working quickly, the Indian Navy used particular surveillance aircraft and drones to track the boats. The Information Fusion headquarters in Gurugram also provided important support to guide the operation.
Two suspicious boats were recognized and closely observed. On November 24 and 25, the Indian Navy’s team, working together with aerial support, boarded the boats and seized the drugs. Another Indian Navy ship was sent to help with the operation.
The boats, along with the crew and the seized drugs, are now being handed over to Sri Lankan heads for further investigation and legal action.
This successful operation highlights the strong teamwork between the Indian and Sri Lankan navies. It also shows their responsibility to keep the Indian Ocean safe and free from criminal activities like drug trafficking. (PR)
