A meeting was held on January 30, 2025, to discuss the upcoming Budget Session of Parliament. It was chaired by Shri Rajnath Singh, the Union Minister of Defence, and attended by 52 leaders from 36 political parties, including several key ministers.
The meeting was called by Shri Kiren Rijiju, the Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs. Also present were Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of State for Law and Justice, and Dr. L. Murugan, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Information and Broadcasting.
Shri Rajnath Singh opened the meeting by welcoming the leaders. Shri Kiren Rijiju then explained the details of the upcoming Budget Session. He said that the session will start on January 31, 2025, and end on April 4, 2025, with a break from February 13 to March 10 for committees to review budgetary proposals. There will be a total of 27 sittings over 64 days.
The main focus of the session will be on the Union Budget for 2025-26, and there will also be discussions on the President’s Address. Other important legislative work will take place as well. The Economic Survey of India will be presented on January 31, 2025, and the Union Budget on February 1, 2025.
Several bills are expected to be discussed, including the Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill, Railways (Amendment) Bill, and Oilfields (Regulation and Development) Amendment Bill. In addition, the Finance Bill for 2025 will also be considered.
Shri Rijiju assured the leaders that the government is open to discussing other important issues in Parliament. He thanked the political leaders for their cooperation and active involvement in preparing for the session.
