Union Minister Kiren Rijiju recently participated in Samvad IV: Global Hindu-Buddhist Initiative for Conflict Avoidance & Environmental Consciousness at the UN Convention Center in Bangkok, Thailand. This event was initiated by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, to promote peace and sustainability through ancient wisdom.
Rijiju shared his experience on Twitter, highlighting the importance of Hindu and Buddhist teachings in creating a better world. He tweeted:
"Honored to take part in the inaugural session of Samvad IV at the UN Convention Center, Bangkok, Thailand.
Samvad, an initiative inspired by discussions between India’s Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi ji & Japan’s former leader, the late Shinzo Abe, has been a guiding light for a decade, bringing Hindu & Buddhist philosophies to the global stage."
Over the years, the Samvad initiative has highlighted the importance of talking instead of fighting and understanding instead of dividing. Rijiju stressed that in today's world, where conflicts and environmental issues are major concerns, such discussions are more relevant than ever.
"In an era of conflict, Samvad offers an alternative, rooted in dialogue, not discord; in understanding, not division. The focus on conflict avoidance & environmental consciousness aligns with our deep-seated Asian values. A profound experience to witness how age-old philosophies continue to guide humanity toward peace & sustainability."
In his speech at the event, Rijiju highlighted that Samvad IV has become a global movement, working for the well-being of both humanity and nature. He also reinforced India’s role in spreading peace and sustainability through traditional knowledge.
