In a series of successful operations, the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, Manipur Police, and other security forces have recovered a large amount of weapons, ammunition, and other dangerous materials from several areas in Manipur. These operations took place in both the hill and valley regions of the districts of Kakching, Kangpokpi, Churchandpur, and Thoubal.
On January 26, 2025, the Assam Rifles, working with the Manipur Police, acted on specific information and launched a joint operation in Kangpokpi district, in the area of Nepali Basti and Veitum Khullen-Khoken Village Road. During the process, they found one 5.56 mm rifle, one 7.62 mm rifle, a modified .303 sniper rifle, a .22 pistol, a single barrel rifle, two homemade mortars, grenades, and ammunition.
Also, on the same day, the forces obtained more intelligence and carried out another operation in Thoubal district. Here, they managed to capture a member of the Kangleipak Communist Party (Taibanganba) and took the shot.
On January 28, 2025, the Indian Army, along with the CRPF and Manipur Police, launched another operation in the Churachandpur district. They focused on a road between Loilamkot and Nalon towns, where they recovered six long-range rockets, a launcher stand, a homemade mortar, and more ammunition.
Then, on January 30, 2025, in the early hours of the morning, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police conducted another operation in Kakching district. This time, they recovered a 9mm rifle, a 9mm pistol, grenades, ammunition and other materials.
All the recovered weapons and materials, as well as those captured during the operations, have been handed over to the Manipur Police for further action.
These successful operations show the strong teamwork between the Indian Army and other security forces. Their combined efforts are crucial in maintaining the peace and security of the region.
