Tai Idol Season 5 Grand Finale: A Vibrant Celebration of Talent and Culture

The grand finale of Tai Idol Season 5, held today at the Multipurpose Cultural Hall in Namsai, celebrated the immense talent of the Tai Khamti community while showcasing its vibrant cultural heritage. The event, marked by stellar performances from young participants, reaffirmed Tai Idol’s role as a platform for nurturing and promoting regional talent.

The event was graced by Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Shri Chowna Mein  as the chief guest. In his address, Mein lauded the Tai Khamti Heritage and Literature Society for its tireless efforts in preserving and promoting the community’s rich traditions. He emphasized the role of such initiatives in inspiring pride and recognition for the Tai Khamti community at both regional and national levels.

Reflecting on the community’s cultural journey, Shri Chowna Mein  said, “The spark ignited by the Brahmaputra Darshan in 2003 to showcase Tai Khamti folk music and dance has taken us a long way. It is truly heartening to witness the rise of our youth, whose talent is now celebrated on national stages and resonates across state, national, and Southeast Asian audiences.”

The finale concluded with the announcement of the winners. Chow Chujanta Manchey was crowned the winner of Tai Idol Season 5, while Nang Wakham Chakhap and Chow Khamseng Thoumoung secured the first and second runner-up positions, respectively. Congratulating the winners, Shri Chowna Mein  said their achievements were a testament to the limitless potential of the region’s youth and a source of inspiration for aspiring artists.

The Deputy CM Shri Chowna Mein also highlighted the recent recognition of Chow Saratham Namchoom, a distinguished artist from the Tai Khamti community, as a significant milestone. He stress on the importance of collective efforts from parents and society in supporting young talent and enabling them to pursue creative aspirations.

The event also saw the release of two new music videos, one featuring last year’s Tai Idol winner and another showcasing a mesmerizing performance by Phontok.

Shri Chowna Mein reiterated the Arunachal Pradesh government’s commitment to empowering the youth under the leadership of Chief Minister Pema Khandu, ensuring continued support for initiatives that preserve and promote the state’s rich cultural heritage.

The Tai Idol platform, spearheaded by the Tai Khamti Heritage and Literature Society, continues to inspire young talents, fostering cultural pride and recognition on national and international stages.(pr)
