In the secluded, forest-wrapped village of Grihang in Kamjong District, Manipur, a nightmare turned into a miracle thanks to the swift action of Assam Rifles. On the misty morning of 21 April 2025, two-year-old Chuishut accidentally fell into a water tank—her life hanging in a delicate balance in one of the most inaccessible corners of the North East.
With no viable means of communication and far removed from modern infrastructure, the village could only hope for a miracle. That miracle arrived in olive green.
Upon receiving the distress call, Assam Rifles immediately swung into action. Braving the terrain, medical personnel reached the remote site, stabilised the toddler, and coordinated an urgent airlift. A military helicopter cut through the skies to evacuate the child to Assam Rifles Military Hospital in Imphal.
Despite the odds difficult topography, limited resources, and ticking time the entire operation was a masterclass in military precision and humanitarian urgency. Within hours, little Chuishut was in the safe hands of paediatric experts, and her condition was declared stable. Doctors confirm that any delay could have had fatal consequences.
Overwhelmed with emotion, her parents shared, “We thought we were going to lose her. Assam Rifles gave her back to us.”
This rescue highlights not only the operational prowess of the Assam Rifles but also their unwavering commitment to humanitarian service. From battling insurgencies to saving innocent lives, Assam Rifles continues to stand tall as a pillar of strength and compassion in India’s North East.
