The Indian Army, in partnership with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), is continuing its efforts to help people in Myanmar through Operation BRAHMA. This mission carried out with the support of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and medical teams, is focused on providing relief and medical aid to those in need.
As of 8:00 AM Myanmar Standard Time (MST), a team of 110 medical personnel from the Indian Army’s Field Hospital and 13 members of the NDRF have started their journey to Mandalay. They are carrying essential medical supplies and equipment to assist the affected people. The convoy, which includes 15 military trucks from the Myanmar Army, three buses, and seven other vehicles from the Indian and NDRF teams, is being escorted by Myanmar Army vehicles. They are expected to reach Mandalay by 2:00 PM (MST).
Yesterday, an advance team of 10 medical professionals from the Indian Army, along with NDRF personnel, the Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM), and the Defence Attaché (DA), arrived in Mandalay on a Myanmar Air Force aircraft. They met with important Myanmar officials, including the Chief Minister of Mandalay Division and Lieutenant General Myo Moe Aung, to plan and coordinate the relief efforts.
To provide medical care, the Indian Army has been given space at the Old Mandalay Airfield, where there is a 200-bed hospital that is not currently in use. Work is in progress to set up this facility so that it can start offering medical treatment to those who need it.
Through Operation BRAHMA, the Indian Army is demonstrating India’s commitment to helping its neighbors during difficult times.
