The 9th Veterans Day function was celebrated with pride and reverence at Air Force Station Jalahalli, Bengaluru on 14 January2025. The event, held to honor the contributions and sacrifices of India’s military veterans, was graced by Air Marshal Nagesh Kapoor, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C), Training Command, Indian Air Force, as the Chief Guest.
The program commenced with a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial by Air Marshal Kapoor, senior officers of the Training Command, and veterans representing all three services. This gesture paid tribute to the supreme sacrifice and unwavering commitment of India’s military heroes.
Addressing a gathering of over 2,000 veterans, Air Marshal Kapoor emphasized the profound legacy of the veterans, acknowledging their invaluable role in shaping the armed forces. “Today, we honour not just the past but also the values of courage, integrity, and service that our veterans embody. Your contributions will continue to inspire generations,” he said. He also commended the families of veterans, calling them a “pillar of strength” and recognizing their support in nation-building efforts.
The day featured a series of felicitation ceremonies, with distinguished veterans being honored for their exemplary service to the nation. The event also included various support initiatives for veterans. Functional counters by the Controller of Defence Accounts, Directorate of Veterans, Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS), and banks were set up to address queries and provide on-the-spot resolutions for concerns faced by veterans. Medical consultations were also made available, ensuring holistic support for attendees.
Adding a personal touch, the Air Force Families Welfare Association (AFFWA) organized a convenience stall at the venue, reflecting their commitment to veterans and their families.
