The Combined Annual Training Camp (ATC) for NCC cadets from Nagaland began today at Wokha, organized by the NCC Group Kohima. The 10-day camp, running from January 9 to January 18, 2025, is being held at the Assam Rifles Camp in Wokha. This camp will provide a rigorous training program for 400 NCC cadets, including both boys and girls, along with their Associate NCC Officers and Instructor Staff.
Intensive Training Program for Cadets
The cadets will undergo a comprehensive training schedule, which includes physical training, marching drills, field craft, weapon training, firing exercises, and other service-related subjects. The camp aims to enhance the cadets’ leadership qualities, physical fitness, and military skills in a controlled, quasi-military environment.
Inaugural Address by Camp Commandant
On the inaugural day, the Camp Commandant, Colonel (Retd.) [Name], who is also the Commanding Officer of 1 Naga Girls NCC Battalion, addressed the cadets. He emphasized the importance of leadership, character development, soldier’s life, and essential life skills that will be imparted throughout the camp. His speech focused on the values of discipline and unity, which are central to the ethos of the NCC.
Collaboration with State Departments
In addition to military training, various state departments have collaborated with the camp to provide lectures and hands-on training for the cadets. These include topics such as disaster relief, higher education, entrepreneurship and start-up initiatives, employment generation schemes, and fire fighting techniques.
Unique Opportunities for Cadets
The cadets will also have the opportunity to engage in fun and competitive activities such as kite flying and tug of war, offering them a well-rounded experience beyond traditional military training.
NCC: A First Experience in Community Living
For many cadets, this NCC camp represents their first exposure to community living and training in a semi-military setting. It offers them a valuable chance to learn the essential aspects of NCC training while living the values of Unity and Discipline, which form the core motto of the NCC.
The camp is expected to foster teamwork, camaraderie, and self-discipline among the participants, preparing them for future leadership roles in both the military and civilian spheres.
