Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence on corruption allegations against industrialist Gautam Adani, which are now being investigated in the United States. Speaking at a youth interaction event, "Yuva Samvaad," in Lal Ganj, Rahul Gandhi criticized the Modi government for not addressing the issue and demanded an explanation from the Prime Minister.
During his speech, Gandhi highlighted that unemployment and rising prices are the biggest challenges India faces today. He strongly blamed the Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, calling it the biggest failure in the country. Mocking the BJP’s claim of a "double engine" government, he said, “It may be a double government, but it has no engine to drive progress.” He encouraged the youth of Uttar Pradesh to vote for the Congress party, promising that a Congress-led government would create more job opportunities, similar to what has happened in Karnataka and Telangana.
Gandhi blamed the rising unemployment on the Modi government’s poor policies, including demonetization, the faulty implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST), and widespread corruption. He accused the government of favoring wealthy businessmen like Adani and Ambani while neglecting ordinary citizens, further worsening the economic crisis.
Reaffirming his commitment to India’s youth, Gandhi stressed the need for economic reforms. He proposed simplifying the GST system and making it easier for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to access credit. He pointed out that SMEs are the biggest job providers and need government support to thrive.
He also accused the BJP of trying to distract the public from real issues like unemployment and inflation. According to Gandhi, the government should focus on improving the lives of people rather than benefiting large corporations.
As part of his visit, Gandhi toured the Modern Rail Coach Factory and spoke with workers. He highlighted the importance of Indian Railways for the country’s economy and criticized the government for neglecting railway development. He emphasized the need for safer and more comfortable travel options for the public.
Earlier in the day, Gandhi paid tribute to Shri Beera Passi, a respected local figure, by garlanding his statue at Narpatgunj, Bheera Govindpur, in a gesture of respect and remembrance. (PR)
