Today, as part of the Janjatiya Gaurav Divas, the 150th birth anniversary of Veer Birsa Munda was celebrated with reverence and enthusiasm at the Veer Birsa Munda Auditorium in Kumari Adivasi, Lekang Arunachal Pradesh. The event paid tribute to the legendary tribal leader and freedom fighter and highlighted the invaluable contributions of tribal communities to India’s history, culture, and freedom struggle.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Chowna Mein, in his keynote speech, emphasized the enduring significance of Veer Birsa Munda’s legacy. "Veer Birsa Munda’s courage, vision, and steadfast commitment to the upliftment of his people remain a beacon of hope for all. His legacy must be cherished, celebrated, and passed onto future generations," he stated.
Deputy CM Mein also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for recognizing the pivotal role of tribal leaders in India’s freedom struggle. He credited the BJP-led NDA government with making Janjatiya Gaurav Divas a national occasion and ensuring tribal heritage is honored and preserved. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the rich traditions of the region’s tribal communities.
The event featured floral tributes to Veer Birsa Munda by the Deputy Chief Minister and other dignitaries. Guest rooms within the auditorium premises were also inaugurated on the occasion.
Prominent attendees included BJP National Vice President Chuba Ao, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Urmila Mancheykhun, District BJP President Sujana Namchoom, Former MLA (Lekang) Jummum Ete Deori, State ST Morcha President Kame Yangfo, and State Yuva Morcha President Ritemsu Manyu. Several BJP Karyakartas, PRI leaders, government officers, and members of the Adivasi community were also present.
