The 13th Rashtriya Rifles Biennial Conference was held in Udhampur on November 20, 2024, under the supervision of Lt Gen Suchindra Kumar, the Army Commander of Northern Command. The conference was attended by Major General Anupam Bhagi, Additional Director General of Rashtriya Rifles, as well as senior officers from Army Headquarters and Northern Command, including General Officers Commanding Counter Insurgency Forces and Rashtriya Rifles Battalion Commanders.
During his address, Lt Gen Kumar lauded the unique role of the Rashtriya Rifles in restoring peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir over the past several decades. He also acknowledged their significant contributions to inclusive growth and nation-building efforts in the region.
The Army Commander highlighted the importance of evolving the Rashtriya Rifles into a more elegant, lean, and technology-enabled force to meet both current and future operational challenges. He urged all Rashtriya Rifles commanders and troops to continue their work "for the people and with the people" as part of their counter-terrorism efforts. He highlighted the unique position of the force, which is deeply embedded in the geography and demography of Jammu and Kashmir, and emphasized the importance of their role as both protectors and contributors to community development.
Lt Gen Kumar congratulated all ranks of the Rashtriya Rifles for their unwavering commitment and sacrifices in their efforts to combat terrorism in the region, urging them to keep up their dedication to the mission of restoring peace and building a better future for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.(PR)
