To celebrate International Women’s Day, Fairway Quest, a women’s golfing group founded by three former Defence Forces officers, organized the first-ever Mixed Masters Golf Tournament in Jaipur on March 7-8, 2025. The event was a grand success, promoting women’s empowerment and inclusivity in golf. To mark the occasion, female participants wore shades of pink on March 8, adding a special touch to the celebration.
The tournament featured an 18-hole competition, attracting 85 golfers aged between 40 and 80. Players included men, women, and veterans from Jaipur and other cities, competing in different categories.
Lt Gen Manjinder Singh, Army Commander of South Western Command, attended the closing ceremony and presented three prestigious memorial trophies. These were the Gp Capt (Late) Sanjay Dhankar Memorial Trophy for the Overall Gross Winner (Men), the Mamta Misra Memorial Trophy for the Overall Winner (Women), and the Wg Cdr (Late) Prithvi Singh Chauhan Memorial Trophy for the Winner in the 10-18 Handicap Category.
During his speech, Lt Gen Manjinder Singh congratulated the founders of Fairway Quest—Flt Lt Dr. Arpita Sharma (President), Diana Kaushik (Secretary), and Mrs. Rupali Tanwar—for their dedication to promoting golf. He encouraged them to organize more tournaments, especially for women and young players.
The tournament saw impressive performances. Lt Col Rakesh Lamba won the men’s category, while Mrs. Manisha Singh was the overall winner in the women’s division. Col Sher Singh Rathore emerged victorious in the 10-18 Handicap category, and Shubhra won the women’s Stableford category. Other winners included Praveen Mishra and Gp Capt SK Agarwal in their respective divisions. Col Harish Khangarot (Retd) was the Overall Gross runner-up. The longest drive awards went to Maj Sandeep Siwach (Retd) in the men’s category and Mrs. Neelam Singh in the women’s category.
The tournament received strong support from various sponsors, with Shubhashish Homes as the primary sponsor. Other contributors included Global Peace Foundation, Nik Bakers, Olive Planet, Reviva, Kaushik Aero Sports, BSG Group of Hotels (Porvorim, Goa), Pushkar Bagh Pushkar, and Dental Sewa Clinic.
With its successful execution, the event has set the foundation for future tournaments, strengthening Fairway Quest’s mission to encourage more women and young players to take up golf. (PR)
