Raksha Rajya Mantri Shri Sanjay Seth is set to preside over the Joint State Representatives and Additional/Deputy Directors General (JS R&A/D) Conference of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) in New Delhi on September 23, 2024. The biennial event will bring together key representatives from various states and the Ministry of Defence to discuss the future of the NCC and its expanding role in India’s youth development programs.

Key attendees will include the Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Higher Education from Rajasthan, Education Ministers from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Karnataka, Kerala, and Uttarakhand, along with other senior government officials. Ministers of Youth and Sports from Goa and Ministers of Education from Gujarat will also participate, reflecting a pan-India engagement in this collaborative effort. Senior officers from the Ministry of Defence, the Directorate General of NCC (DGNCC), and officers from various state NCC units will also be present.

The conference will address a broad range of issues aimed at improving coordination between state and central governments, as the NCC program is a joint responsibility. A key focus will be the implementation of the NCC’s recently approved expansion plan, which aims to increase cadet strength by 300,000 in the coming years, raising the total number of cadets to 20 lakhs from the current 17 lakhs. This significant growth plan is expected to bolster the reach and impact of the NCC across the country.

Among the issues to be discussed are the refinement of NCC policies, financial needs, and the establishment of new training and camping infrastructure. These improvements are seen as vital to enhancing cadet motivation and ensuring the effective execution of the NCC’s training programs.

Shri Sanjay Seth, along with other senior officials, will also address the delegates regarding the evolving role of the NCC and how best to equip the organization to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing national security environment.

The Joint State Representatives and ADG Conference is regarded as a crucial platform for dialogue and decision-making between the central and state governments, ensuring that the NCC remains a cornerstone in developing disciplined and patriotic young citizens across India.
