In a series of intelligence-based joint operations, the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, Manipur Police, and other security forces have made significant strides in maintaining peace and stability in Manipur. The close coordination between these forces has led to the recovery of 12 weapons, ammunition, and war-like stores over the past week.
On October 15, 2024, a joint search and recovery operation was conducted by the Indian Army and Manipur Police in the Leirongthel Pitra area, located on the fringes of Thoubal district. The operation resulted in the seizure of a cache of weapons and ammunition, including one AK-56 rifle, one SLR, one carbine machine gun, one single-barrel rifle, one pistol, grenades, and additional war-like stores.
A day later, on October 16, 2024, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police carried out another successful operation based on intelligence near Cannan Veng village in the Churachandpur district. The operation led to the recovery of one .303 rifle, five single-barrel rifles, one 9mm pistol, ammunition, and further war-like stores.
All the recovered items have been handed over to the Manipur Police for further investigation and appropriate legal action.
The seamless synergy between the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, Manipur Police, and other security agencies highlights the effectiveness of their combined efforts in restoring law and order in Manipur. These operations not only disrupt insurgent activity but also build trust within local communities, contributing to the overall peace process in the region.
