The 1 Manipur Air Squadron of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), under the aegis of the NCC Group HQ in Imphal, commemorated the 92nd Indian Air Force (IAF) Day with a special event held at Ananda Purna School on October 8, 2024. The celebration brought together the NCC fraternity, Air Wing cadets, residents, and students and teachers from the school, fostering a sense of pride and unity.
The event featured the screening of a short film that highlighted the illustrious achievements of the IAF, showcasing its pivotal role in various military campaigns and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) operations.
Brigadier S.R. Sharma, SM, VSM, Group Commander of the NCC Group Imphal, graced the occasion as the chief guest. In his address, Brigadier Sharma emphasized the IAF's significant contributions to national defense since its establishment on October 8, 1932. He praised the force for its professionalism and resilience, underscoring its critical role in safeguarding Indian airspace and conducting aerial operations during conflicts, as well as its commitment to humanitarian efforts in times of natural calamities.
He also highlighted the importance of national integration and urged the youth to engage actively in nation-building. Brigadier Sharma acknowledged the vital role of NCC cadets in driving societal progress and fostering a spirit of service among young Indians.
The event concluded on a patriotic note with the recitation of the NCC Song followed by the National Anthem, leaving attendees with a renewed sense of pride in their armed forces and a commitment to contributing positively to society.
The Indian Air Force, known for its precision and technological advancements, continues to operate a diverse fleet that includes fighter jets, transport planes, helicopters, and drones.
