The joint military exercise 'AL-NAJAH V' between India and Oman is currently underway at the Rabkoot Training Area in Oman. The exercise, which began on 13 September, will continue until 26 September and has seen active participation from both the Indian Army and the Royal Army of Oman.

The Indian Army contingent, comprising 60 personnel from the Mechanised Infantry Regiment along with representatives from other arms and services, is working in close coordination with their Omani counterparts. The initial days of the exercise focused on combat first aid, casualty evacuation, weapon handling, and counter-drone drills, promoting interoperability between the two forces while keeping in mind the latest trends in modern warfare.

A significant focus was placed on assault rifle, sniper, pistol, and light machine gun (LMG) firing exercises, aimed at enhancing reflex fire skills and close-quarter battle techniques. Both armies shared valuable combat experience through case studies, fostering deeper tactical understanding.

An essential component of the exercise involved engineers from both armies collaborating on field engineering tasks, addressing critical aspects of real-time combat situations. This was followed by a dynamic Field Training Exercise, where the troops practiced responses to real-world scenarios such as urban area clearance, casualty evacuation, hostage rescue, and supply replenishment in a combat zone.

Beyond tactical drills, AL-NAJAH V has provided an opportunity for cultural exchange, helping to strengthen the bond between the two nations. The exercise will culminate with a grand live-fire demonstration, showcasing the cohesion and interoperability developed between the Indian and Omani forces, particularly in peacekeeping operations under a United Nations mandate.

This joint exercise underscores the strategic defense partnership between India and Oman, with both nations benefiting from shared learning and combat experience. (PR)
