The Indian National Congress has announced the launch of a nationwide campaign titled ‘Jai Bapu-Jai Bhim-Jai Samvidhan’, aiming to highlight the alleged insults to Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar and the Constitution by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) over the years. The party also released a pamphlet in connection with the campaign, which will include setting up Chaupals in districts across the country to educate people about what the Congress describes as a conspiracy to undermine the rights of 90% of the Indian population.

During a press conference at the AICC headquarters today, Congress Spokesperson and Media and Publicity Department Chairman, Pawan Khera, shared details of the campaign. He announced that a massive rally will be organized on January 26 at Mhow in Madhya Pradesh, the birthplace of Dr. Ambedkar, to further promote the movement.

Khera criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his remarks in Parliament on December 17, which he described as insulting to Dr. Ambedkar. The Congress leader called for an apology from Shah, expressing hope that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would intervene in the matter. However, Khera accused Modi of supporting Shah’s remarks, thus becoming complicit in the insult to Ambedkar.

Khera went on to emphasize that Shah’s comments reflected the views deeply ingrained within the RSS and BJP. He reminded the press about historical incidents, such as when RSS members burned effigies of Dr. Ambedkar to protest against the Constitution, which they had described as “un-Indian.”

The Congress spokesperson further accused the BJP government of systematically attacking and undermining constitutional institutions. He also pointed to the glorification of Nathuram Godse, the assassin of Mahatma Gandhi, during the BJP’s tenure, with temples being built in Godse’s name.

Khera concluded by stressing that it was the responsibility of the Congress party to remind the new generation of India’s rich legacy and to vigorously fight to preserve its constitutional values. (pr)
