In an exceptional exhibition of bravery and devotion, an Indian Navy diving crew saved a grievously wounded woman following a speedboat collision in the Mahanadi River close to the Bali Yatra maritime trade fair ground.

The incident happened while the diving team, deployed by the Eastern Naval Command, was completing reconnaissance for the upcoming Bali Yatra 2024 preparations. The team, witnessing the accident, instantly jumped into the act, showing their excellent training and fast decision-making skills.

The injured woman was swiftly pulled from the water by the divers. Employing the buddy carry technique, they hauled her over a kilometer to the nearest police post, assuring her safety while waiting for further help.

With no ambulance readily available, the team arranged for an autorickshaw and personally accompanied the victim to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, guaranteeing she received urgent medical attention without delay.

This courageous action highlights the Indian Navy's uncompromising dedication to public welfare and their readiness to respond to emergencies outside their normal responsibilities. Their timely intervention and resourceful efforts potentially saved the woman’s life, gaining widespread gratitude from the local community. (PR)
