Keeping your EPF account updated and checking it once in
a while to know the balance is mandatory. The government has now made
initiating EPF balance checks
extremely easy. There are at least 4 different ways that you can check your EPF
Balance now.
Since there’s the interest rate on your EPF, you should
check whether your account is updated or not, or you may not be able to avail
all the benefits offered by the government. Here’s how you can check your EPF
balance-
Check Your EPF Balance Via
UMANG App
To check your EPF Balance using the UMANG app, you will
have to download the Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance
Application (UMANG); with UMANG App, you can check your EPF balance directly
from your phone.
To access the EPF section on UMANG App, you will have to
enter a one-time registration number that you will recieve on your registered
mobile number. Here are the step to follow-
Step 1- Install the UMANG Application on your phone
Step 2- Access the EPFO section from the homepage
Step 3- Click on ‘Employee Centric Services’
Step 4- Click on the view passbook option
Step 5- Enter your UAN Number, and you will receive an
OTP
Step 6- Enter the One-Time Password you have received on
your registered mobile number
Step 7- Click on Login and view your EPF details
You can now check your epf balance and check your
monthly contributions via UMANG App.
Check Your EPF Balance Via
SMS
Maximum people are unaware of this method, whereas this
is the easiest one. However, this can only happen if your UAN is activated. To
know your balance via SMS, you will have to send a text on 7738299899.
Type EPFOHO UAN ENG. The
last three-letter in the SMS is basically the first three letters of the
language you choose to receive the information in.
For now, you can get information in Bengali, Hindi,
Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Marathi, Gujarati, and Malayalam. Please note
that to be eligible to receive information within seconds on your phone, you
will have to attach your aadhaar card, PAN card, and bank details.
Via Missed Call
You can easily receive updates about your EPF Balance by
giving a missed call on 011-22901406. You
will have to call from the registered mobile number. To avail of these
services, you will have to attach your PAN, Bank and Aadhaar details with your
EPF account.
How to Initiate EPF Balance
Check Via EPF Portal?
EPFO Portal is the easiest medium from where you can
check your EPF balance. Though for this, you will have to complete your KYC and
activate your UAN.
Follow these steps to check your EPF balance-
Step 1- Visit the official EPF website
Step 2- In the menu, click on For Employees option. You
will find it under the Our Services tab.
Step 3- Select the Member Passbook under the
Services
Step 4- Enter your UAN number, password, and captcha
details. Enter Login
Step 5- Now check your EPF Balance
How to Know Your UAN
Number?
The easiest way you can find your UAN number is to check
your payslip generated by the employer. Apart from this, you can go to your HR
and ask them as they maintain a track record of the same.
Apart from this, you may also give a miss call from your
registered mobile to 011-22901406. After giving the missed call, you will get
your UAN number within seconds on your mobile via SMS.
Here’s how you can know UAN online-
Step 1- Visit the official UAN portal
Step 2- Click on ‘Know Your UAN Status’
Step 3- Select the State and EPFO office address
Step 4- Now enter your official PF Number or member ID,
your name, date of birth, mobile number and the correct captcha code
Step 5- Now select the Get Authorization Pin
option
Step 6- You will receive a Pin on your mobile
number
Step 7- Now enter your pin and click on validate pin and
get the UAN number
Step 8- Now, you will receive your UAN number on your
registered mobile number
By following the steps mentioned above, you cannot not
only receive your UAN number but also be able to check your EPF balance within
a few seconds. These are the most commonly used methodologies for checking the
PF balance. However, keep in mind that to avail of this facility, you will have
to attach your PAN, Bank and Aadhaar details.
