In a grand initiative to celebrate the 92nd anniversary of the Indian Air Force (IAF), a 7,000-km long car rally titled ‘Vayu Veer Vijeta’ is set to take off from Thoise in Nubra region of Ladakh and culminate in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh. The rally, which aims to highlight the valour and contributions of the IAF, will be formally flagged off on October 8, 2024, from Thoise, one of the highest altitude air force stations in the world at 3,068 meters above sea level.
Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh will lead a ceremonial send-off to the rally participants at the National War Memorial in New Delhi on October 1, 2024. The rally is scheduled to conclude in Tawang on October 29, 2024.
The ‘Vayu Veer Vijeta’ rally is being organised by the IAF in collaboration with veterans of the Uttarakhand War Memorial. Its primary objective is to raise public awareness about the illustrious history of the IAF, the courage of its air warriors during various conflicts, and their role in crucial rescue operations. Additionally, the rally seeks to inspire the youth to join the armed forces and serve the nation.
A total of 52 air warriors, including women, will drive in this monumental rally, with participation from former Air Force Chiefs at various legs of the journey. The rally will feature 16 stops, where air warriors will interact with students at different universities and colleges, sharing insights about the IAF's legacy. The Adventure Cell of the IAF is spearheading the organization and coordination of the event.
The event is expected to not only celebrate the IAF's history but also build a bridge between the armed forces and the younger generation, reinforcing a sense of pride and duty towards the nation.(pr)
