In a landmark initiative aimed at empowering young minds and fostering the spirit of innovation, Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh, Director General of the National Cadet Corps (DG NCC), inaugurated the ‘Idea and Innovation Competition’ at the NCC Building in Safdarjung, New Delhi. This pathbreaking event, hosted as part of the NCC Republic Day Camp (RDC) 2025, marked the first-ever effort to provide cadets with tools and guidance to devise solutions for real-world challenges.
The competition emerged as a culmination of nationwide workshops and contests conducted under the aegis of 17 NCC State Directorates. These efforts, designed to ignite creativity and inspire the next generation of leaders, garnered overwhelming participation from cadets across India. Out of an impressive 256 innovative ideas submitted, 56 top innovations were shortlisted and proudly showcased at the Republic Day Camp.

Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh emphasized that the initiative aligns with the NCC’s vision of preparing cadets as architects of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India). The competition also resonated with the principles of ‘Yuva Setu,’ a bridge connecting the aspirations of the youth with the nation's developmental goals.
