The Indian Navy's First Training Squadron (1TS), consisting of the INS Tir and the ICGS Veera, has successfully concluded its long-range training deployment in Manama, Bahrain, on October 16, 2024. The visit aimed to enhance regional maritime security cooperation and foster collaboration in training and operations.
During the port call, Captain Anshul Kishore, Senior Officer of 1TS, met with Major General Salman Mubarak Al-Doseri of the Royal Command Staff and the National Defence College, along with Commodore Ahmed Ebrahim Muhamood, Commander Flotilla. The discussions centered on regional maritime security challenges and potential avenues for future collaboration.
The delegation also engaged with Commodore Mark Anderson, Deputy Commander of the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF). Interactions at the US Naval Forces Central Command (NAVCENT) focused on strengthening maritime cooperation and reinforcing strategic partnerships among the Indian Navy and other regional maritime forces.
In addition to high-level discussions, the visit included organized tours of the 1TS ships for Bahrain Defence Forces, CMF, and naval personnel from various allied nations. These visits aimed to foster a better understanding of common operating procedures, setting the stage for future collaborative exercises.
A delegation from 1TS, including sea trainees, visited the Naval Support Facility in Bahrain, gaining valuable insights into the operations of Task Force 59, USNAVCENT, and CMF.
In a display of camaraderie and goodwill, naval personnel from USNAVCENT and the Indian Navy participated in a friendly football match. Additionally, the Indian Navy band captivated audiences with a performance in Manama. A community outreach activity was also conducted at the 'Tree of Life Social Charity Society,' emphasizing the Indian Navy's commitment to local engagement.
The visit concluded with a maritime exercise (MPX) involving the INS Tir, ICGS Veera, and the RBNS Al Farooq, reaffirming the strong maritime ties between the Indian Navy and Bahrain.
