Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein today inspected ongoing development projects at Parshuram Kund in Lohit district, taking stock of infrastructure progress aimed at transforming the area into a major pilgrimage center in Northeast India. This site visit is part of the government’s larger initiative to establish Parshuram Kund as a premier religious destination.
Mein reviewed several key infrastructure developments, including a Riverfront Development project, a Guest House, a Pilgrims Lodge, and other essential structures at the Kund. In support of these efforts, he announced that the state government would contribute Rs. 50 crore to ongoing projects, adding to an additional Rs. 50 crore already allocated by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) for the Riverfront Development initiative.
Following the inspection, the Deputy CM chaired a preparatory meeting for the Parshuram Kund Mela 2025, which was attended by MLA Tezu, Advisor Dr. Mohesh Chai, ADC Wakro, and other key stakeholders. The Parshuram Kund Mela, held annually in January during Makar Sankranti, draws thousands of pilgrims who visit to seek blessings from Lord Parshuram and participate in the celebrations.
During the meeting, Mein highlighted the importance of successfully managing the influx of pilgrims and ensuring a seamless experience. He directed the district administration and the Parshuram Kund Development Trust to provide accommodation for at least 2,000 people each night of the Mela and allocated Rs. 50 lakhs to the Trust for effective event management.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to enhancing Parshuram Kund’s infrastructure and amenities, Mein emphasized that these improvements would allow the site to accommodate the growing number of visitors and offer an enriching spiritual experience for all attendees.(pr)
