Build and install an Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) Plug, allowing submarines to stay underwater longer without surfacing. |
Install Electronic Heavy Weight Torpedoes (EHWT) on Kalvari-Class submarines to boost firepower. |
Impact/Collaboration |
AIP technology, developed by DRDO, improves submarine endurance, supports the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ mission, and creates jobs equal to three lakh man-days. |
Collaboration between Indian Navy, DRDO, and Naval Group to enhance submarine capabilities. |
The AIP Plug will give conventional submarines the ability to operate underwater for longer periods, making them more effective during missions. On the other hand, the new torpedo system will increase the striking power of Kalvari-Class submarines, allowing them to tackle tougher challenges.
These projects are part of India’s efforts to modernize its defense forces while promoting self-reliance in military technology. They also highlight India’s growing collaboration with international partners to enhance its defense capabilities. (PR)
