On the 92nd Air Force Day, the world’s highest military airbase, Thoise, witnessed the grand flagging off of a unique 7000 km IAF UWM Car Rally. The rally, which extends up to Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh, was marked by the chants of "Bharat Mata ki Jai" and "Jai Hind Ki Vayu Sena."
Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Shri Harsh Malhotra, flagged off the rally. He was accompanied by West Delhi MP Smt. Kamaljeet Sehrawat, Thoise Station Commander Group Captain Sunil Kumar Yadav, senior Air Force officers, and UWM Chairman Tarun Vijay.
As a special tribute to the Air Warriors, an anthem dedicated to the Indian Air Force was played and jointly committed to the nation by MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat and Mrs. Anita Yadav, wife of Station Commander Group Captain Yadav.
The rally, consisting of 25 Air Force serving officers, including two serving lady Army officers—Lieutenant Colonel Ashwini AS Pawar VSM, an Everest summiteer, and Major Swati Basedia, a renowned communication expert—was flagged off with great enthusiasm. The rally also includes six senior IAF and Army veterans driving alongside the officers.
The rally is being led by Wing Commander Vijay Prakash Bhatt of the IAF Adventure Cell. A public reception awaits the rally at Leh, where Lieutenant Governor Brigadier (Retd) B.D. Mishra will honour the participants on the evening of 8th October. From Leh, the rally will proceed through Kargil, Drass, Srinagar, Jammu, and Dehradun.
This initiative underscores the unity of the forces and celebrates the indomitable spirit of the Indian Air Force and its personnel. (PR)
