From October 21 to 23, 2024, the Indian Navy conducted a successful Maritime Partnership Exercise (MPX) with the German Navy in the Indian Ocean, featuring the participation of INS Delhi, a guided missile destroyer, alongside the German frigate Baden-Württemberg and the replenishment tanker Frankfurt Am Main.
The exercise included a series of complex operations, such as cross-deck flying maneuvers, underway replenishment, weapon firing drills, and tactical maneuvers. These activities showcased the capabilities of both navies and highlighted their commitment to enhancing maritime cooperation.
This inaugural Maritime Partnership Exercise between India and Germany in the Bay of Bengal marks a significant milestone in fostering deeper maritime connections and interoperability between the two nations’ naval forces.
INS Delhi, the lead ship of her class, is an integral part of the Eastern Fleet of the Indian Navy, demonstrating India's advanced naval capabilities. The Baden-Württemberg, as the lead ship of the F125 class, represents the German Navy’s modern frigate design, while Frankfurt Am Main serves as the second ship of the Berlin-class replenishment fleet.
The successful execution of this exercise underscores the importance of collaborative maritime operations in ensuring regional security and stability in the Indian Ocean. Both nations are committed to furthering their partnership and enhancing naval cooperation in the years to come. (PR)
