VINBAX 2024: India and Vietnam to Execute 48-Hour Validation Exercise with HADR Relief Demo

The fifth edition of the India-Vietnam Bilateral Army Exercise, VINBAX 2024, began today in Ambala, marking a significant milestone in defense cooperation between India and Vietnam. Scheduled to run from November 4 to 23 at Ambala and Chandimandir, this joint exercise aims to enhance collaboration and interoperability between the Indian and Vietnamese armed forces.

This year's edition sees expanded participation, involving both the Indian Army and Air Force for the first time. The Indian contingent, consisting of 47 personnel, is primarily represented by a regiment from the Corps of Engineers alongside other service branches. A similar number of Vietnamese troops from the Vietnam People's Army are participating in the exercise, marking an increase in bilateral engagement since the previous edition held in Vietnam in 2023.

Strengthening Peacekeeping and Disaster Response Capabilities

VINBAX 2024 is centered on strengthening joint military capabilities, particularly in tasks relevant to United Nations Peacekeeping Operations (UNPKO) under Chapter VII of the UN Charter. The exercise focuses on the deployment of engineering companies and medical teams, simulating real-world scenarios where both countries may collaborate in UN peacekeeping missions.

As part of the training, the two armies will conduct a 48-hour Validation Exercise, featuring a Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) demonstration. This will include an equipment display aimed at testing the readiness and standards of both contingents in providing relief and executing technical operations under challenging circumstances.

Fostering Cultural Exchange and Mutual Confidence

Beyond military training, VINBAX 2024 is set to foster cultural understanding between India and Vietnam. Participants from both nations will have opportunities to explore and share aspects of their respective cultures, creating bonds that extend beyond military cooperation.
