The Indian Air Force added a new chapter to its legacy today with the inauguration of the Air Force Museum at Vayusena Nagar, Nagpur. The event was presided over by Air Marshal Vijay Kumar Garg, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Maintenance Command.
The museum offers a rare glimpse into the history and evolution of Indian military aviation. From vintage aircraft to modern defense systems, it brings alive decades of service, sacrifice, and innovation by the Indian Air Force.
Visitors are greeted at the entrance by three iconic exhibits: a Mi-8 helicopter, a MiG-21 fighter jet, and a Pichora missile system. Inside, the museum is divided into various sections including the History of the IAF, an audiovisual zone, equipment and weapons display areas, and more. One of the key attractions is the flight simulator section, where visitors can experience what it feels like to be in the cockpit of a fighter aircraft.
The museum is designed not just to showcase machines and memorabilia, but to serve as a space for education and reflection. It honors the men and women of the Air Force and their contributions to the nation.
The museum will be open to the public every day except Tuesdays and gazetted holidays. Visiting hours are from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
With its blend of history, technology, and tribute, the Air Force Museum at Vayusena Nagar is set to become a landmark destination in Nagpur for citizens, students, and defense enthusiasts alike.(PR)
