New Delhi: Phase II of the First Edition of the Naval Commanders’ Conference 2025 commenced at Nausena Bhawan, New Delhi, with Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), addressing the outstation Operational and Area Commanders, along with the Command and Naval Headquarters staff.
Adm Tripathi lauded the Indian Navy’s consistent state of combat readiness, highlighting successful operational exercises, enhanced platform availability, and strengthened tri-services cooperation with the Indian Army and Indian Air Force. He emphasized the Navy’s growing role in domestic shipbuilding, increasing innovation culture, and the vital need to embrace emerging technologies to build a Future Ready Force.
Stressing India's strategic role in the Indian Ocean Region amid evolving geopolitical dynamics, the CNS underlined a cohesive and credible maritime approach through multilateral and bilateral exercises, and support to littoral nations via initiatives such as Operation Brahma and the deployment of IOS Sagar, launched during Phase I of the conference.
Adm Tripathi outlined seven strategic focus areas:
- Warfighting & Combat Efficiency
- Force Levels & Capacity Development
- Fleet Maintenance & Operational Logistics
- Innovation & Integration of New Technologies
- Balanced Workforce Development
- Operational & Organisational Agility
- Synergy with National Agencies and Stakeholders
Foreign Secretary Shri Vikram Misri also addressed the commanders, offering insights into the shifting global order and its implications for international relations and security frameworks.
The CNS released a series of landmark publications during the session:
- Indian Navy Space Vision 2025–40: A comprehensive roadmap for the next 15 years, detailing the utilization of full-spectrum space-based capabilities to enhance naval operations.
- Indian Navy Operational Data Framework (ODF): A pivotal document marking the Navy's transition from net-centricity to data-centricity. It emphasizes leveraging data as a strategic asset to generate operational insights and boost mission effectiveness.
- Navy for Life and Beyond – Officers & Sailors: An all-in-one, curated reference guide offering detailed information on the transition from active service to retirement. It is a valuable resource for personnel planning their life beyond the Navy.
