The Nagaland Ex-Servicemen Community celebrated Armed Forces Flag Day with special ceremonies to honor the sacrifices made by the Indian Armed Forces. The ceremonies started on December 5 and 7, 2024, with key officials, including Governor Shri La. Ganesan and Chief Minister Shri Neiphiu Rio, participating.
On December 7, the community, led by the Director of Sainik Welfare and Resettlement, pinned the Armed Forces Flag to Governor Ganesan at the Raj Bhavan. On December 5, the same gesture was made at the State Secretariat, where Chief Minister Rio was honored.
During the ceremony, Governor Ganesan thanked the servicemen and their families for their sacrifices in keeping the country safe. Chief Minister Rio also reaffirmed the government's commitment to supporting ex-servicemen and their families.
Flags were also pinned to the officers and staff at the State Secretariat, including Chief Secretary Shri J. Alam, IAS, and Home Secretary Shri Vyasan R. IAS.
Armed Forces Flag Day, observed every year on December 7, is a day dedicated to honoring the bravery and hard work of our armed forces. It also encourages citizens to contribute to the welfare of veterans, ex-servicemen, and their families.
The Ex-Servicemen Community encouraged the public to donate to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund to support those who have served the nation. The event ended with the distribution of flags and a call for continued support for the welfare of ex-servicemen and their families across Nagaland. (PR)
