Nagaland is all set and ready to welcome visitors to witness the 23rd edition of the Hornbill Festival 2022 amidst non-participation from the Eastern areas.
Nagaland, the land of festivals is all geared up for the celebration of the much-awaited and popular Hornbill Festival 2022. Amidst the non-participation from the eastern areas of Nagaland to partake in the hornbill festival because of the hardships faced by the participants. State Nagaland has decided to continue the celebration planned accordingly. This was stated by Advisor for Tourism, Art and Culture, Shri H Khehovi Yeputhomi, while addressing a press conference held on 29th November at the Directorate of Tourism, Kohima.
Shri H Khehovi Yeputhomi said that the participation of the Eastern areas is not certain, and they may not partake also, however things have been planned accordingly, he said. He said that all preparatory works for the celebration of the Hornbill festival have been completed and necessary arrangements have been put in place and monitored at all levels for the ceaseless celebration of the festival. He said that the preparation for all the stakeholders responsible for making the hornbill festival has been positive and forthcoming and the State government is ready to welcome the entry of thousands of visitors to partake in the festival.
The Advisor also informed that the chief guest for the inaugural programme will be the Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar. He also stated that three guests from outside India, His Excellency Emanuel Lenain, Ambassador of France to India, Harry O. Farrell Ao, Australian High Commissioner to India, and Eleonara Dimitrova, Ambassador of Bulgaria will witness the Hornbill Festival.
The guest of honour will be the Governor of Nagaland, Professor Jagdish Mukhi, while the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio will be the chief host of the festival. Advisor Tourism Art and Culture, H Khehovi Yeputhomi will be the festival host.
Tribal guests from Porba Village, Chakhesang tribe will invoke the traditional blessing for the festival.
The ten-day hornbill festival is scheduled to be held from the first of December to the tenth at the Naga Heritage Village, Kisama. The festival will witness cultural troops from different tribes, exotic foods, traditional games and crafts, music, fashion etc.
