A National Integration Tour (NIT), organized under Operation Sadbhavana, was flagged off on 2nd November 2024 by Major General SS Kartikeya, SM, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Red Shield Division, at Koirengei, Manipur. This inspiring event brings together a group of 20 students, comprising 14 girls and 6 boys, from Sacred Heart School in Yambem, located in the Imphal East district of Manipur. Accompanied by two teachers, the students represent villages across the region, including Andro, Yaripok, Yambem, Changamdabi, and Angtha.
The flag-off ceremony was attended by the Chairperson of the Family Welfare Organisation of the Red Shield Division, who, along with Major General Kartikeya, encouraged the students to gain meaningful insights from the journey. In his address, the GOC emphasized the educational value of the tour, urging the students to draw maximum learning and cultural understanding from the experience.
This National Integration Tour, a key initiative under the Indian Army’s Operation Sadbhavana, aims to promote national unity and cultural exchange. Over the ten-day journey, the students will travel to Delhi, Agra, and Lucknow, where they will have the opportunity to meet the President of India, interact with senior military dignitaries, and visit historical and educational landmarks. This exposure is designed to enhance their understanding of India’s diverse cultural heritage and strengthen their sense of unity within the nation.
The tour will conclude on 12th November 2024, when the group returns to Imphal. This endeavor emphasizes the Indian Army’s dedication to fostering national integration and empowering youth, providing these students with a rare platform to experience the nation’s diversity and reinforce their connection to its heritage.
