In a daring rescue operation, security forces neutralised three armed militants of the NSCN (KYA) group and safely rescued a kidnapped civilian in Arunachal Pradesh’s Longding district.
The incident took place on the night of 25 April 2025, when two construction workers were abducted by insurgents from the Pangchao area. Acting swiftly on credible intelligence inputs, troops of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles launched a joint operation early on 27 April.
As the forces moved in towards the suspected location, contact was established with the armed cadres. A fierce firefight ensued, during which three militants were eliminated. The troops recovered four automatic weapons, a large quantity of ammunition, and other war-like stores from the encounter site.
In a major breakthrough, one of the kidnapped construction workers was successfully rescued during the operation. However, efforts are ongoing to trace and rescue the second individual, with intensive search operations underway in the dense forested area.
The successful operation once again highlights the unwavering commitment of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles towards ensuring the safety and security of civilians in the sensitive border regions of Arunachal Pradesh.
Authorities have reiterated their resolve to continue counter-insurgency efforts and restore lasting peace in the region.(PR)
