In a heartfelt gesture of gratitude and support, the State Bank of India (SBI) provided financial assistance to 135 War Veterans and Veer Naris (widows of soldiers) as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative under the Panch Pran goals. The event, organized in collaboration with the Directorate of Sainik Welfare, Assam, was held at Sainik Bhawan in Lachit Nagar, Guwahati.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Mr. Amresh Kumar Jha, General Manager of SBI, senior officials from the bank, officers from HQ 51 Sub Area, and representatives from the Directorate of Sainik Welfare, Assam. During the ceremony, Mr. Jha handed over a symbolic cheque of ₹69.75 lakh to Brigadier Polash Choudhury, Sena Medal, Director of the Directorate of Sainik Welfare, Assam. This amount will be distributed among 135 selected War Veterans and Veer Naris, with ₹50,000 being directly transferred to each beneficiary's bank account.
In addition to financial aid, SBI also presented small gifts to the Ex-Servicemen and their families as a token of appreciation for their service and sacrifices. The event concluded with an informal gathering where dignitaries, War Veterans, and Veer Naris interacted over high tea, fostering a sense of respect, gratitude, and camaraderie.
This initiative by SBI reflects its strong commitment to honoring and supporting the brave soldiers and their families. By providing financial assistance, the bank not only acknowledges their sacrifices but also ensures that they receive the support they need. Such efforts strengthen the bond between the armed forces and society, reminding everyone of the importance of valuing and caring for those who have served the nation. (PR)
