A group of 45 NCC cadets from Tetso College, Dimapur, took an inspiring step towards environmental protection by organizing a Cleanliness Drive at Dzukou Valley, one of the most famous tourist destinations in the region. The two-day cleanup drive, held on March 8 and 9, 2025, was conducted in honor of World Wildlife Day, to preserve nature and spread awareness about wildlife conservation.
The initiative was led by cadets from 1 Nagaland Battalion NCC and 24 Nagaland (I) Company, under the supervision of Group HQ Kohima. These young cadets took on the challenge enthusiastically, working tirelessly to clean up litter and restore the valley’s natural beauty. On March 9, they also observed World Wildlife Day by taking a pledge to protect wildlife and preserve biodiversity.
The event officially began on March 6, 2025, at Tetso College, where the Principal and Director motivated the cadets to become leaders in environmental conservation. They encouraged the young participants to take responsibility for keeping their surroundings clean and protecting nature for future generations.
NCC cadets are trained in discipline, leadership, and social responsibility, and they regularly participate in community service activities. This cleanliness drive was part of a larger effort to engage youth in nation-building, aligning with the government’s vision of "Yuva Shakti – Viksit Bharat", which highlights the power of young people in creating a better future.
Through their hard work and dedication, the NCC cadets of Tetso College have set a remarkable example of how young individuals can contribute to the environment. Their efforts ensure that Dzukou Valley remains a beautiful, clean, and sustainable destination for visitors to enjoy. (PR)
