The ceremony served as a reminder of the rich legacy of 101 Area, which was raised on this very day in 1963. Since its inception, the formation has not only played a key role in the 1971 war but has also been at the forefront of counter-insurgency operations and humanitarian missions in the region.
Addressing the troops and officers, Lt Gen Malik spoke of the pride and dedication that defines the formation. Today, we honour the courage of those who came before us and renew our own commitment to serve the nation with the same spirit, he said.
