On April 8, 2025, the Assam Rifles held a special event in Sugnu, a town in Kakching district of Manipur. During this event, they returned six vehicles to their owners. These vehicles included three JCB machines, one truck, and two two-wheelers. This act showed how Assam Rifles cares not only about security, but also about helping people and bringing peace to Manipur.
Back in May and June of 2023, Manipur went through a very difficult time with a lot of violence. Because of the unrest, some people had to leave their vehicles behind for safety. Assam Rifles found these vehicles and kept them safe. In January 2024, some of the owners came to ask about their lost vehicles. Sadly, the vehicles were damaged and could not be used at that time. Also, the situation in the area was still unsafe, so it was not possible to return them immediately.
Even then, Assam Rifles did not give up. For almost one and a half years, they worked hard to fix the vehicles, find the real owners, and plan how to safely give the vehicles back. Finally, they were able to do it in April 2025.
The handover event was attended by senior officers from Assam Rifles, government officials from Kakching, local people, and members of civil society groups — around 300 people in total. Everyone appreciated the kind efforts of Assam Rifles and their dedication to helping people.
This event showed how Assam Rifles is not just a security force, but also a friend to the people of the North East. They are always ready to help, not just in times of danger, but also when people need support and care. Their action proved that they stand for peace, unity, and humanity. (PR)
