The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has signed a contract worth ₹197.35 crore with Ashok Leyland Defence Systems Ltd to provide 500 new buses for the Indian Army. These buses will help the Army transport soldiers more easily, even in tough areas like mountains and rough roads.
The buses are built with strong materials, making them durable and safe. They have modern technology and safety features to ensure smooth and secure travel. Their special design allows them to move through difficult terrains where normal buses might not work well.
This purchase is part of the 'Buy (Indian-IDDM)' plan, which means the buses are made in India. This supports the government’s ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India) mission, helping India become more independent in making defence equipment. It will also create jobs and boost the country’s defence industry.
With these new buses, the Indian Army will be able to transport soldiers more quickly and efficiently, especially in remote areas. Better transport means the Army can respond faster in important situations, ensuring soldiers reach their destinations without delay.
This deal is an important step in improving the Army’s transport system and making India stronger in defence manufacturing. By building these buses in India, the government is improving military transport while also supporting local industries and job creation. (PR)
