New Delhi: In a significant event, Raksha Rajya Mantri Shri Sanjay Seth inaugurated the Joint State Representatives and Additional/Deputy Directors General (JS R&A/D) Conference of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) today. During his address, he underscored the NCC’s pivotal role in nation-building, emphasizing its contribution to developing disciplined and responsible young citizens.
Shri Seth highlighted the NCC's active participation in national initiatives such as the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, International Yoga Day, and environmental protection efforts. He called on state governments to fulfil their commitments to providing the necessary manpower, funding, and infrastructure to support the NCC's expansion and enhance its presence across the country.
The Raksha Rajya Mantri announced that the government has approved a plan to increase NCC cadet vacancies by three lakhs, raising the total strength from 17 lakhs to 20 lakhs in the coming years. This expansion will also incorporate ex-servicemen as NCC instructors, allowing them to leverage their skills and experience while creating new employment opportunities for veterans.
Lt. Gurbirpal Singh, Director General of NCC, presented the organization's achievements over the past two years and outlined future expansion plans. He emphasized the need for well-equipped training and camping infrastructure in various states to boost cadet motivation and engagement.
The JS R&A/D Conference is a biennial event that sees participation from Ministers of Education, Youth & Sports, and senior representatives handling NCC affairs in their states. It serves as a platform for the Ministry of Defence, DGNCC, NCC Heads from all states, and senior officials to coordinate and plan NCC activities nationwide. The collaborative nature of these efforts reflects the shared responsibility of both the Central and State Governments in fostering the growth of the NCC. (PR)
