Marking World Health Day, the Indian Army organised a Special Medical Camp in Khurkhul, located in the Imphal West district of Manipur, with the aim of delivering essential healthcare services and promoting hygiene awareness among the local population.
The camp offered free medical check-ups, distribution of medicines, and health screenings for anaemia, hypertension, diabetes, and other common ailments. As part of the hygiene initiative, sanitary pads were also distributed to support menstrual health management.
Over 200 residents, including women, children, and elderly individuals, availed themselves of the services provided. Army doctors led the camp, delivering thorough medical consultations, health counselling, and preventive care advice to the attendees.
An awareness session was also conducted, focusing on the importance of holistic hygiene and its direct influence on overall health and well-being. The session underscored the role of proper hygiene practices and the use of sanitary products in preventing infections, particularly cervical health issues.
This outreach reflects the Indian Army's continued commitment to public welfare, underlining its role not only as a security force but also as a proactive contributor to the health and development of communities in remote and underserved regions. (PR)
