North East Trade & Investment Roadshow in Ahmedabad Boosts Investor Interest!

The event showcased opportunities in various sectors such as tourism, agriculture, infrastructure, and healthcare.

The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) arranged a roadshow in Ahmedabad today to showcase the possibility of the North Eastern States to investors. The event saw a strong response from business leaders eager to explore opportunities in this unique and various region. It was attended by Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, the Hon’ble Minister of State for MDoNER & Ministry of Education, along with other senior officials from MDoNER, North Eastern Council, NEHHDC, NERAMAC and the North Eastern States.
Dr. Majumdar began by highlighting how the North Eastern Region is viewed as one of India’s key economic assets. He mentioned that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, there has been significant progress in infrastructure development in the region, including better air and rail connectivity. He also presented the UNNATI Scheme, which is designed to promote sustainable development, attract investments and support India’s vision of becoming more self-reliant.
The Minister indicated that the eight states in the North East have many unique powers. The region is rich in culture, natural beauty and has a strategic location close to Southeast Asia. This makes it an ideal gateway for trade, which aligns with India’s Act East Policy. He invited businesspeople from Gujarat to explore the region’s many opportunities, including in sectors like tourism, agriculture, healthcare, infrastructure, textiles, energy and more.
Shri Shantanu, Joint Secretary at MDoNER, spoke about the vast untapped potential in the North East. Over the past decade, the government has completed many important projects, improving the lives of local communities. He mentioned that MDoNER is organizing the ‘North East Investors Summit’ in Delhi soon. So far, the North Eastern States have received over Rs. 77,000 crore in investment commitments through MOUs and Letters of Intent.
A representative from the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) described the benefits of the UNNATI Scheme. The scheme is designed to support industries in the region by offering incentives to attract manufacturers, promote local businesses and reduce dependence on imports.
Senior officials from the North Eastern States shared valuable insights into the growing opportunities in the region. The roadshow attracted many industry leaders and the event included several meetings between business owners and government officials to discuss investment plans. The event concluded with a positive response, with many investors expressing interest in partnering with the region for future growth.
This roadshow is part of a series of events across India aimed at promoting the untapped potential of the North Eastern Region. It marked an important step towards attracting investment, fostering economic growth, and ensuring a brighter future for the region. (PR)
