Brigadier PS Cheema, SM, VSM, Group Commander of the Jammu Group NCC, delivered an inspiring address to over 500 cadets at the Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC) held at the NCC Training Academy in Nagrota. Organised by the 5 J&K NCC Battalion, the camp runs from October 4 to 13, 2024, and brings together cadets from various battalions.
Brig Cheema, who was accorded an impressive Guard of Honour upon his arrival, engaged with both cadets and staff during his visit. In discussions with the Training Staff and Associate NCC Officers, he emphasised their significant role in shaping future leaders. He particularly addressed participants of the Permanent Instructor Orientation Cadre, encouraging them to embrace their duties and uphold the core values of the NCC.
In his interactions with the cadets, Brig Cheema motivated them to strive for excellence in events such as the Best Cadet competition and the prestigious Youth Exchange Programme with friendly foreign countries. He also highlighted the importance of teamwork, perseverance, and dedication as key to success. Brig Cheema further reviewed shooting practice sessions, offering words of encouragement to cadets preparing for the GV Mavlankar Shooting Competition at the national level.
During his visit, Brig Cheema also inspected the ongoing renovation of the Cookhouse, a key facility for cadets during training events. He emphasised the importance of providing quality meals to ensure the well-being of the cadets during their rigorous training.
"The values instilled during your training will guide you in every aspect of life," Brig Cheema told the cadets. "Stay focused, work hard, and aim high."
The camp aims to nurture leadership qualities, discipline, and a sense of national pride among the participating cadets, all key pillars of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) programme. (pr)
