Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein inaugurated the first-ever Tai Khamti Aromatic Herbal Sauna Bath at Kongmu Kham, also known as the Golden Pagoda, on Wednesday. This special wellness initiative was created by Ven Bhikkhu Vimala Tissa, the Abbot of Kongmu Kham Monastery.
The sauna bath combines ancient Tai Khamti healing traditions with modern wellness practices. It uses aromatic herbs to produce medicated steam, which helps with common issues like colds, improves sleep, and promotes relaxation.
“This herbal sauna bath is more than just a wellness facility; it’s a connection to our rich heritage and knowledge,” said the Deputy Chief Minister. He praised the effort, noting how it brings the community closer to its cultural roots while promoting health and well-being.
What makes this sauna unique is its accessibility—it’s free for everyone, no matter their age. The steam is made using a traditional method, offering a special experience that’s different from ordinary saunas.
Deputy Chief Minister Mein also thanked Ven Bhikkhu Vimala Tissa for his dedication to preserving Tai Khamti traditions. “This initiative is not just about health. It’s about keeping our cultural heritage alive for future generations,” he added.
The Tai Khamti Aromatic Herbal Sauna Bath is expected to become a popular wellness spot and a symbol of the region’s pride. It highlights the beauty of combining tradition with modern needs to benefit the community. (PR)
