The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has responded to recent news reports about allegations made by former Kiphire District Congress Committee (DCC) leaders, Shri Likyuse Sangtam and Shri Tsalichum S Sangtam, along with other officials from the 59 Seyochung - Sitimi and 60 Pungro - Kiphire Assembly Constituency Congress Committees (ACCC). The NPCC says these allegations are false and misleading.
The NPCC explained that the former Kiphire DCC officials were suspended on November 19, 2024, for one month, as per the party rules. They were asked to reorganize the committees during this period. Additionally, members of the two ACCCs were also suspended on November 20, 2024, with the same instructions.
To carry out the reorganization, a new Nominating Committee was set up, and new officials were appointed to the Kiphire DCC and its related committees. The new team, led by Shri K Tsalimong as the DCC President, was appointed on December 16, 2024.
The NPCC strongly rejected the accusations of wrongdoing, calling them baseless. They urged the former officials not to question the legitimacy of the newly appointed DCC leadership. The NPCC said that challenging the new leadership could be seen as disrespecting the authority of the NPCC and could be treated as insubordination.
The statement aims to clear up the confusion and confirm that the party's leadership in the region remains strong and unified. (PR)
