In an important step to improve the functioning of the newly formed 1 J&K Air Squadron of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) at Udhampur, Maj Gen Anupinder Bevli VSM the Additional Director General (ADG) of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh Directorate visited the team on January 8. He was accompanied by Brigadier PS Cheema, SM, VSM. This visit is a key moment in the company’s setup and will help support its functions moving forward.
The main goal of the visit was to check on the team's facilities, readiness, and resource planning as well as to provide guidance on improving the Air Wing's training programs and outreach. During the visit, Maj Gen Bevli had the chance to see the squadron's progress and meet with the unit working on its development.
The ADG was informed by the Commanding Officer (CO), Wing Commander Nitin Yadav, about the current status of the unit, with the key achievements so far and the challenges faced during the initial stages. Wing Commander Nitin Yadav also shared the procedures being set up to provide safe flying and maintenance for the squadron's future flying operations.
Maj Gen Bevli praised the hard work of the Commanding Officer (CO) and staff in enrolling cadets from schools and colleges in the Udhampur and Jammu areas. He highlighted the need to provide high-quality training for the cadets to ensure they get the best education and experience.
The visit also gave the team a chance to plan for the squadron’s future growth. They are planning to improve the unit’s operations, introduce advanced training and increase cadet enrolment to encourage more young people to join the Air Wing.
The 1 J&K Air NCC Squadron is the first Air Squadron in the region, its formation is a big step in inspiring young people to explore flying. The squadron will offer cadets specialized training in aviation, leadership and discipline giving them a chance to learn about Air Force operations, flying, and aerospace science. This initiative aims to empower youth help them develop new skills and encourage them to contribute to the nation. (PR)
