The
Headquarters Goa Naval Area recently hosted the Annual Navy Education Society
(NES) Conference 2024 from November 20 to 22. The three-day affair brought
together key stakeholders to debate and strategize on the policy framework for
Naval Schools, with a special emphasis on executing the National Education
Policy (NEP) 2020.
The meeting
featured important discussions of the Executive Committee, the Management
Advisory Committee (MAC), and the Academic Advisory Committee (AAC).
Representatives also participated in a guided tour of the Navy Children School
in Goa, displaying the organization’s infrastructure and dedication to quality
education.
The
Executive Committee Meeting, held on November 22, was chaired by Vice Admiral
Vineet McCarty, Controller Personnel Services and Chairperson of NES. Commodore
SM Urooj Athar, Commodore (Naval Education) and Vice Chairperson of NES,
directed the MAC and AAC meetings. Senior officers from Naval Headquarters and
leaders from Naval Schools across the country also attended the event.
During the
meeting, Vice Admiral McCarty gave Rolling Trophies to schools that achieved
academic excellence in the past year. In his speech, he lauded the key role of
Naval Schools in providing top-notch education to the children of naval
personnel. Stressing the significance of the NEP 2020, he called for its
effective implementation and suggested school management teams to ensure a
complete understanding of its doctrines.
“The NEP is
not just a policy but a transformative framework that strives to prepare our
students with important life skills alongside academic learning,” said Vice
Admiral McCarty. He also urged schools to develop a holistic learning
environment that motivates students to excel in both academics and
co-curricular activities.
The
discussion highlighted the Navy Education Society’s dedication to enhancing
academic standards and aligning with national policy endeavors, reaffirming its
devotion to nurturing well-rounded individuals equipped for the challenges of
