Mauritius: Indian Naval Ship (INS) Sarvekshak has successfully completed a major hydrographic survey in Mauritius, protecting over 25,000 square nautical miles. This survey will help Mauritius improve its marine infrastructure, manage resources better and plan coastal development more effectively.
At a memorable ceremony on the ship, Shri Anurag Srivastava, India’s High Commissioner to Mauritius, handed over the survey’s results, along with new navigational charts and equipment, to Mr. Dharambeer Gokhool, the President of Mauritius. These resources are predicted to play an important role in the country’s development.
To strengthen ties between the two nations, the crew of Sarvekshak also held a joint yoga session on January 20, 2025. Participants included the ship’s crew, members of the Mauritius National Coast Guard and representatives from the Indira Gandhi Centre for Indian Culture (IGCIC).
Captain Tribhuvan Singh, the ship’s commanding officer, also met with Mr. Shakeel Ahmed Yousuf Abdul Razack Mohamed, Mauritius’s Minister of Housing and Lands. They discussed the details of the survey and its benefits for Mauritius.
This visit shows the strong partnership between India and Mauritius and supports India’s vision of SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region), which focuses on regional maritime cooperation and development. (PR)
