On December 3, 2024, the Spear Corps of the Indian Army inaugurated a modern Wushu Sanda Arena at Nachou Village in Manipur, which was handed over to the Bishnupur District Wushu Association. The event was attended by the President of the Bishnupur District Wushu Association, the Vice-President of the Wushu Association of Manipur, local leaders, and young athletes from the area.
This new arena is part of the Indian Army’s ongoing effort to promote sports and encourage young people to live healthy and disciplined lifestyles. The Wushu Sanda Arena has been built according to international standards, offering local athletes a top-quality place to train and compete.
Wushu, a traditional martial art, is becoming increasingly popular in India, especially in Manipur, which has produced many talented athletes in various sports. The opening of this new arena will provide local Wushu practitioners with a better platform to showcase their skills and grow in the sport.
The event ended with an exciting Wushu demonstration by young
