The Republic Day Parade 2025 was a grand celebration of India's unity, military strength and progress. The Indian Navy played an important role, showcasing its dedication to protecting India's maritime security and its focus on becoming a stronger, self-reliant force.

Marching Contingent

This year, the Indian Navy sent a contingent of 144 young sailors, aged around 25, to march proudly at the Republic Day Parade. These young personnel, who were selected from different branches of the Navy, had undergone special training for over two months to prepare for this important event. They marched with pride on the historic Kartavyapath, representing the Navy's strength and determination to protect India's seas and interests.

The delegation was led by Lt Cdr Saahil Ahluwalia, with other officers like Lt Cdr Indresh Chaudhary, Lt Cdr Kajal Bharavi, and Lt Divinder Kumar supporting him. This group of sailors came from 17 different states and Union Territories, showing the diversity of the country and how the Navy represents the entire nation.

Naval Tableau

The Navy’s tableau at the parade was a colorful display showcasing India’s growing naval power. It featured the recently commissioned ships INS Surat, INS Nilgiri, and the submarine INS Vagsheer, which were all dedicated to the nation in January 2025 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The tableau highlighted the importance of having a strong Navy for the safety and prosperity of the nation. It also demonstrated how the Navy is equipped with modern, homegrown assets to protect India's interests in the sea. The tableau was led by Lt Cdr Mamta Sihag and Lt Vipul Singh Gehlot.

Naval Band

The Indian Navy’s band added to the excitement of the day, marching with pride and playing uplifting music. Led by M Antony Raj, the band featured 80 musicians, including six women, which was a historic moment. The band’s performance was filled with energetic tunes and impressive formations, and they are set to perform again during the Beating Retreat ceremony on January 29.

In all, the Indian Navy’s participation in the Republic Day Parade 2025 showed the strength, diversity, and progress of India’s maritime force. It was a proud moment for the Navy as it continues to strengthen the country’s defense and work towards evolving a self-reliant, powerful force on the seas. (PR)
